Shall I give Jessie J another chance?

It doesn’t take me too long to write someone off, which is (I think) a universally known fact. If not, now you know. I’m pretty tolerant of everything, but once someone crosses me, that’s it. Same with music, food, films etc. If I didn’t have a good first impression of it, chances are I won’t give it a try again. The irony there being is that for a long time I was unable to make a good first impression on many many people. Surely there’s some explanation there. Psychology buddies, wanna help me out?

When I first heard of Jessie J being the next Lady GaGa (I hate when press uses phrases as such) I thought “Hmmm.” Then I listened to her song “Do It Like A Dude” and was simultaneously offended and disgusted for my gender and my ears.

However I recently found out that she did a song for the Easy A soundtrack (you should watch it, it’s a great film – I rewatched it on the plane, because Delta is so crap, that the other films I’d seen before SINCE THEY WERE FROM 2010. Seriously – where was Source Code?) as pointed out to me by one of new CA besties and I was completely unaware it was her. And now I’m torn because it’s a great song and Jessie J is obviously talented (but has such abrasive music).

Here’s the full length song here. Whatja think guys? Worth giving the girl from the same ends as me another shot?*

* Only after I moved when I was a teenager. I’m not originally from Essex.

Hello dear, you’ve been missed.

When I head back to the second motherland of the good ol’ US of (h)A(y) – I really don’t get a chance to update my blog. Sometimes I do. This time I didn’t. When I wasn’t swanning around in the desert at Coachella (yes I went, hate on me as you will, but I made a pact and I went), overeating in Hollywood (too hot to eat at Coachella) or working/not working in NY – I barely had time to sit down and write a simple blog post – that my dears, I apologise for that.

Here’s a picture of myself and two dear friends of mine slutting around (after a bit of restyling by me, I can make anything look infinitely more amazing) in a Queens supermarket purchasing snacky goods for my friend’s “Sluts & Vicars” housewarming. That should tide you over while I catch up.

Imagine Fashion: ‘Matchstick Girl’ Teaser

Imagine Fashion Presents: “Matchstick Girl” Trailer from Imagine Fashion

“I think in the digital space there is the potential for creative media and e-commerce to live as one. It is exactly for this reason that Imagine Fashion exists. The inspirational beauty of editorial with the immediate gratification and benefit of all things digital.” Amber Gordon, Founder and Editor in Chief of Imagine Fashion.

An exclusive preview from TSoS to you – the teaser of Spring’s fashion film from interactive fashion film platform, Imagine Fashion. Imagine Fashion’s new interactive film ‘Matchstick Girl’ is directed by Dusan and Hilde Reljin, and styled by Antje Winter.

The film plays with the dark side of Hans Christian Anderson’s classic story to create a short narrative film that captures an enchanting and unsettling beauty. Sexy, surreal and sinister, ‘Matchstick Girl’ applies Imagine Fashion’s bold, uncompromising approach to fashion film to the fairytale narrative. Elfin Norwegian model Siri Tollerod stars as the little match girl, adorned in street urchin chic by Chanel, Celine, Jil Sander, Jean Paul Gaultier and Prada. As always, due to the interactive nature, you can click through and buy the items featured.

The full film will be released on Friday 15th April on Imagine Fashion.

Everything can be explained with a GIF

As inspired by my dear friend in pop culture arms, Lira Leirner who did a post on GIFs just yesterday, I have also decided what the hey, I’ll do one too! I like to pepper the odd gif here and there, but as I once said to someone, I could look up GIFs the whole day.

Here’s a selection of my favourite, to do with some of my favourite TV shows, and MORE.

A Perfect Sunday Afternoon with Rokit

As usual, on a Sunday morning, I was lying in bed with my laptop solemnly perusing my emails. A message popped up from the dashing Nik Thakkar asking me what my plans were this fine Sunday. Nothing I responded, some domesticity, some catching up on work. Why, he said, join us at Rokit’s warehouse for an afternoon of dressing up, tea, cakes, fun and frolics. What ho! I thought, and I readily agreed.

North London is a terrible place. But you’d never think that a veritable treasure trove of vintage nonpareil was tucked away in the most terrible part of North London, Seven Sisters (closely followed by Wood Green, sorry Aleks).

What can I say? It was a wonderful charming time. From seeing my old friend Kit to meeting new bloggers, to tea cocktails, and recreating Jack Rabbit Slims Twist Contest dressed in oversized farmer overalls, to getting my nails did with pretty little hearts, to the personalised goody bag as well as being able to dress up in all the finery in that warehouse.

Thanks to Rokit for hosting us and apologies for making a mess and running around in the creepers without buying them, The Vintage Patisserie for the lovely tea party, and The Illustrated Nail for the amazing manicure.

Sade drops a new track – two words – SHE’S BACK!

If Sade were to record a Bond theme song (which, now thinking of it – why hasn’t she already?) it would sound something like this. This is insane!

Sade delivers her unmistakable silk-like vocal, over a Neptune-esque bass drone and an entirely other worldly beat. I am buggin’ out. This is some next level sh*t. The most innovative Sade track I’ve heard in years. No lie.

‘Love is Found’ comes off Sade’s forthcoming greatest hits album The Ultimate Collection.

I agree. Any other current popstrel on this track would sound ok and rather samey, but Sade’s gravelly honeyed vocals makes this track. Couple it with the beat, and she’s got a huge hit.

Perfect size 6 figures; Eyes the colour of the Pacific

Welcome back Liz and Jess. We missed you. Keep an eye out for my review of Sweet Valley Confidential!

I prefer the Todd in the second season. The first one was boring, and not  hot. Second season Todd was badass!

Freya Fans Rejoice! – Lingerie brand launches new blog and you could be their next blog star

If like me, you are blessed (or cursed – depending on the time of year and what you want to wear) with a bit more on top, you’ll know Freya (my godsend) who have some of the best bras and swimwear for those with ample bosoms without looking like those ugly boulder holders.

Due to the success of their Facebook page, Freya have teamed up with 4 fashion and lingerie bloggers to launch their blog and panel and start the discussion going on fashion and lingerie, style tips, and general all around fabulousness.

Freya is also spreading the love by choosing a guest blogger who is a fan of Freya to join the panel and contribute to their new blog. The Freya Blog Star competition is running on Facebook and all you have to do to enter is on their Freya Facebook page.

The Freya Blog Star will receive a year of goodies, including a digital camera as well as major fashion event tickets so they can report about all the action on the Freya blog! Freya’s blog comes after what has been a busy year for the lingerie brand, after successfully launching the Bra Doctors advice service on Facebook as well as the Holy Fit campaign. The Freya blog will go live on 16th May.

Utilise those underwires ladies and snap to it.

P.S.. I hope you all got my pun
