Adidas Originals, A Love Letter #JDHEROES #adiOriginalsJD

Did you know that the average height of the UK male is 5″8 and the average height of the UK lady is about 5″3? Being 5″7 I am considered somewhat of an anomaly, especially considering my Asian heritage, instead of being small and dainty, I’m a veritable giant. (Or giantess)

Perhaps that’s why I don’t tend to wear heels a lot. Oh, I own them. I own a lot of them. People upon seeing my closet often ask why they never see me wearing any, and also why I seem to wear a variation of the same clothes everyday. Well London and any city is bad for heels. Potholes, inclement weather, various puddles of unrecognisable detritus, the cobblestones at Somerset House… and don’t get me started on when it rains. As well as towering over almost every man I meet (Hello, I’m up here), I’ve always been more of a flats girl. Specifically, a nice pair of trainers.

If I had to pick out an iconic pair of trainers from my past (or present) wardrobe, they’d have to be a pair of Adidas’s. Oh the incarnations they’ve had. From my first sky blue pair (which promptly got so filthy I wept) to a pair of shell toes I lovingly maintained until my feet grew out of them, I do luvva the Adidas. What can I say? It’s a super stylish brand, their ads are on point, as are their collabs, clothes and their unique retro vibe. And they did the Team GB kit and London 2012 trainers both of which I own (BECAUSE I LOVE YOU LONDON).

This new Adidas trainer is called AdiHoney. Aww honey! With a flash of tartan lining, they stand out from the other nondescript white trainers around, and you know, make a statement without being impractical, and will leave you enough change  from your £60 to buy an umbrella from that guy outside the Tube.

Candy Coloured Treats

I’ve been looking at pictures of myself when I was in uni, and I was way more attractive than I gave myself credit for. Sigh. Probably because I ate less sweets. However after a adolescence of all black everything, I embraced my true nature and went for all outlandish colours. Bright colours are the best way to make you feel better. Also having nice colours on your person to look at makes you less likely to reach for the Skittles, imo.

I received this gift a while ago from Affinitas Intimates, and I kept forgetting to blog on it. I kept it in my bag for a while, as part of my “prepared for anything” demeanour (I also have a toothbrush, glasses, a coat, and a flashlight) but having a pack of knickers didn’t occur to me until I got a pack in the post. And the two greatest words in the world have to be “free underwear”. American lingerie brand Affinitas has just launched over in the UK and I got the Hipster Pack, a cute little packet of three sorbet coloured knickers for when you have “unexpected sleepovers” or in my case, when someone else has an unexpected sleepover and they need a fresh pair of pants. I like big pants because I like to be comfortable (also they hold things in), but these have a good amount of butt coverage and when I bend over in my jeans, they don’t ride up – score! They’re great for little gifts, or if you’re like me, to add to your capacious bag for any occasion. And Affinitas even has a full-bust line, Parfait by Affinitas, that caters especially to the curvier woman, like myself.

Gok Wan for TU at Sainsburys

I have to admit, I’m unashamedly sappy over TV. When the Oscars are on, there’s not a dry eye to be seen, nor reality TV full of heartwarming tales of people overcoming adversity. I used to get through many a box of Kleenex when I watched “How to Look Good Naked.” Made me bawl like a baby.

I’ve always been a fan of Gok, and he’s gone on to do a astonishing plethora of things; own range of glasses, published books, taken Gok’s Fashion Fix on the road, and today, has announced a collab with TU at Sainsburys. Creating a capsule collection of strong statement pieces and key basics, the collection comprises of 13 pieces in reds, teals and terracotta as well as two signature prints, Cherry Blossom and Oriental Floral, which decorate pieces inside and out. And hoorah, it’s great for those with curves. I’ve got my eye on that wrap dress. Anyone who’s watched any of Gok’s shows knows that he’s passionate about making every woman feel good, in all shapes and sizes.

Prints and ladylike silhouettes were big on the catwalks for SS12.

Supermarket fashion has gone from leaps and bounds, and imagine how surprised your friends are going to be next time they ask about your new dress and you tell them you picked it up on the weekly shop.

Gok for TU at Sainsbury’s launches today, on the 6th October in over 200 stores nationwide with prices from £20 to £45.

And every woman needs a great pair of trousers in her wardrobe.
