I DID A SHOOT WITH NATALIA TENA AND IT’S OUT TODAY

Dear readers,

I apologise for my absence. I have been away, I’ve also been shooting loads, and also I’m working on changing up some parts of my blog. Please bear with me while I finish tweaking all the loose ends.

However, I now also have a Tumblr for random bits and pieces. Think of it as a way to tide you over until I can start posting propah again. Like a thinly sliced apple to a glass of fine port (I don’t drink port, but it sounds like such fun!)

I will be back properly soon, but for now, enjoy a shoot I did with Squiz Hamilton for FAULT Fall 2011 where I styled actress Natalia Tena.

Behind the scenes photos can be found on my Facebook page.

Love and puppies, S xxxxxxx

That Awkward Moment when a photographer uses a picture for an editorial where it looks like you’re touching yourself

She looks pretty hot, but awkward in the rest of the editorial.

WTF Harper’s Bazaar – Georgia May Jagger as Margaret Thatcher

Yeah, cos punks were the only ones who cared about Maggie Thatcher taking away milk.

A friend of mine, Katie Antoniou just tweeted a link of Georgia May Jagger (Jerry & Mick’s daughter FYI) as Maggie Thatcher for Harper’s Bazaar US. Shot by Terry Richardson.

Just WTF. It looks exactly how you’d imagine. Wack. It looks wack. I am aware I stopped using that term when I was 17 but it’s appropriate. Also all the schmaltzy typical “British” things are slightly, if not moderately offensive.

What is Alexander Wang doing in this editorial? #headdesk

FAKE NIXON

I like the styling though.

Hello, this is my day job.

Apparently no-one is sure of what I do. In all honesty, I’m not even sure what I do most of the time. I will make a handy list to clear up any confusion.

I am a:
- Stylist
- Journalist
- Blogger
- Social Media consultant

Anyhoo, I have some new work out in Schön! Magazine 13 where I shot an editorial named “Heliotrope” with Grant Thomas. (thus named because it’s purple)

You can see it by clicking here or on the picture.

Franca Sozzani reminds me of someone who puts a song on loop and plays it to death

“Why should these women slim down? Many of the women who have a few extra kilos are especially beautiful and also more feminine” – Franca Sozzani

Does Franca Sozzani jump on every topic du jour? Wasn’t she also the one who didn’t want Toccara Jones in her all black issue but Steven Meisel pushed like crazy to get one shot of her in?

Here’s a picture of some “curvy” models (N.B. Just “models” will suffice). Crystal Renn is noticeably absent, probably because she’s not curvy no more.

I do love this cover. Styled by Edward Enninful. Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley, it’s romantic, sexy, beautiful and timeless. Reminds me of the BW Dolce and Gabbana ads. This may be one of my favourite magazine covers to date thus far.

FYI This is the first time plus sized mods have been used since Sophie Dahl was packing away the pies. So not since 2000.

Naomi Campbell Is Now A Serious Journalist Who Interviews World Dictators

Court perjurer and all around angry person, Naomi Campbell seems to be the latest er, ploy to lure readers to purchasing tomes of glossy paper. Who said print was dead?

Figuring that not just printing Miss Campbell in various nude poses was enough, GQ have also decided to foist her on us as a somewhat ‘intellectual’ and have her a feature where she meets and interviews world leaders; first Chávez back in 2008 which led me to believe that she no way thought up all of those questions, but instead came up with a couple of gems of her own, including:

Would you go topless like Vladimir Putin?
Why not? Touch my muscles!

Next on her (GQ’s) list was Putin for the March 2011 issue. I have a feeling that Naomi may have been left to her own devices when she got the call for the interview. The glee at putting together an actual piece of work for a real life magazine must have given as much excitement as receiving those dirty little pebbles. But probably not the aftermath. I’ve got to give her props though, for turning what could have been a rather serious piece of journalism into an interview for a dating agency. Have a read via the link below. If anything, it’ll confuse enough to forget that you’re annoyed because a handsome hobo stole your danish.

(Note: Dylan Jones also wrote an article on Chávez which is more vom-inducing than the aforementioned interview. At least Nay kept it real.)

P.S. When you click on the link, look at the address bar after. Brings the lulz.

Justin Bieber looks rather attractive on the January cover of ‘The New Yorker’

I’d like to think that this is an artist’s representation of an accurate depiction of his soul.

Oh hello and Happy New Year.

Hello friends! I really should update more often. Why don’t I update more often? I’d like to say because I have a life and/or a manic job (well it is, on and off) but honestly, I can’t be bothered to write about the same nonsense that everyone else writes about. Would you like me to regurgitate fashun newz that is on every other blog? I wouldn’t. Although I am making more of an effort of not being a grumpy git. I aim to always bring a smile to your face, and a chuckle to your day with my witterings on a subject that I didn’t even go and study.

FANCY THAT!

Merry 2011 also, it seems everyone has been having a productive year thus far. I know I am. Work is coming to fruition from the last quarter of 2010, including being published as the main beauty feature in today’s Sunday Times Style. Centre page spread bebe!

I’ve put a scan here, as Times is behind a paywall *mutters* and also for my readers and friends outside the UK to have a look. Click to enlarge. I’m still waiting for the tearsheet, but when I get it, my portfolio will be updated accordingly.

Still wish I had firework boobs though.
